Sports Council
Sports Council
St Francis Catholic Primary School Sports Council has been set up to discuss the future of sport in school. Each of the children represents the school voice in all sporting decisions.
Our Sports Council
The sports council consists of 10 pupils made up of 1 child from each year group from year 2 to year 6. From time to time the sports council invites a special guest to join us during our half termly meetings. This is when the children’s ideas flow and make a difference in their school sport lives. This ensures sport is seen as inclusive and accessible to all members of the school.
The children all nominated by their classes for a position on the council to represent the school voice in all sporting decisions. These councillors work with Miss Davis to improve the quality and selection of sports that the school teach or participate in. They take opinions from their classmates and feedback information which helps to inform decision and create a sporting ethos.
Our Sports Council have 4 main aims:
1. We believe that athletes come in all shapes and sizes. Let talent and abilities shine through.
2. To be able to inspire and develop the athletes of tomorrow.
3. To showcase talents and develop skills by holding competitions.
4. To promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles through providing sports activities which are inclusive.
Sports Champion
A ‘Sports champion’ is someone who has shone brightly at sports and has gone that extra mile to achieve their goal, it is also someone who shows the good sports values ”. Every fortnight during Congrats assembly a sports personality is chosen from each phase.
