Sports Premium Effect and Sustainability

At St Francis’ we are committed to improving the health of all of our pupils.  We are working hard as a school to ensure that all pupils have access to a range of high-quality PE lessons, experience a range of extra-curricular activities and participate in competitions across the Catholic Cluster of primary schools and the Birmingham network.

 

Since January 2020, all pupils in all year groups are participating in the daily mile to increase levels of activity on a daily basis.  

From September 2021, all pupils in all year groups are participating in wake up, shake up to increase levels of activity weekly.

Since September 2021, 12 year 5 children have been trained to become playleaders. They will take groups at playtimes and run activities. This is to increase levels of activity on a daily basis.

From October 2022, all children in years 3 and 4 are being taught how to ride bicycles safely through the bike ability scheme. These children will then have access to bicycles that can be used at lunchtimes.

From June 2022, all children in year 1 are being taught how to ride balance bikes safely through the bike ability scheme. These children will then have access to balance bikes at playtimes and lunchtimes.

 

The staff and governors at St Francis’ are committed to establishing positive attitudes to sustainable healthy habits in all of our pupils. Our curriculum ensures that there are ample opportunities to discuss the importance of a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally.
