Spring Term Curriculum

During Spring Term, we will be looking at:

Number and Place Value within 50.  We will be:

• sorting, counting and representing objects;
• recognising numbers as words;
• counting on from any number;
• calculating one more/one less;
• counting backwards within 50;
• comparing groups by matching;
• understanding what is meant by fewer, more, same;
• understanding what is meant by greater than, less, equal to;
• ordering objects and numbers;
• comparing numbers;
• understanding number lines;
• partitioning numbers into tens and ones.

Addition and Subtraction.  We will be:

• looking at parts and wholes;
• looking at part whole models;
• writing number sentences;
• learning about fact families;
• calculating number bonds within 20 and to 20;
• understanding addition as adding together and adding more;
• solving addition problems;
• finding a part;
• understanding subtraction as taking away/crossing out/how many left;
• using a number line to subtract;
• adding and subtracting 1 or 2.

Measure.  We will be:

• measuring length and height in centimetres;
• measuring volume and capacity;
• comparing volume and capacity.
