Statistics for Year 6 Cohort 2021 - 2022
There were 59 pupils in these classes
- 42% swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres,
- 42% Use a range of strokes effectively,
- 40% Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Our aims to improve these statistics
Our school provides swimming for all children in year 3. At the end of the year 3, all children will be assessed against the swimming requirement. Those children identified as needing extra support to achieve the swimming requirement, will have the opportunity to have further swimming lessons throughout year 4.
In order to improve water safety. Children in year 6, will be taught on land training about water safety.
Including:
- Identifying risks around different types of water.
- Tips to stay safe around water at home, in the pool, outdoors or on the beach.
- What to do if you find yourself or someone else in an emergency.
- How to perform a rescue from land.
- How to perform the recovery position and CPR.
