Remote Education Information

St. Francis' Remote Learning Statement

Our school is committed to ensuring continuity of learning for all pupils in the event of absence or unforeseen closure. Remote learning is provided through the BGFL platform, which is used consistently across all year groups.

Unforeseen School Closures
In cases of unforeseen closure — such as severe weather (including snow), heating failure, or other emergency situations — daily learning activities will be set online for pupils to access from home.

  • Work will be uploaded each day to the BGFL platform

  • Activities will include core subjects and, where appropriate, foundation subjects

  • Instructions and resources will be clearly outlined on individual class pages

  • During the normal school day, staff will monitor class pages and update materials or respond to queries where appropriate

  • Children are encouraged to use the online learning games available within BGFL as part of their daily remote learning activities

Homework Expectations (All Year Groups)

  • Homework is set weekly

  • Each week includes:

    • One literacy task

    • One maths task

  • Every third week, homework will include a foundation subject focus (for example science, humanities, or creative subjects)

  • Details, deadlines, and submission guidance are provided on individual class pages

  • Online learning games within BGFL may also be set or recommended to support practice and consolidation

Pupil Absence
Where a child is absent due to:

  • Illness

  • Family holidays

  • Other unforeseen circumstances

appropriate learning activities will be made available online so pupils can continue their learning where possible.

We encourage families to check class pages regularly and contact the school if access support is required.
